A non-attorney judge in southern New York has agreed to resign with two years remaining on his term amid a probe by the state judicial misconduct watchdog that he repeatedly poked a female clerk during an argument he started.

Justice John P. Orzel of Triangle Town Court in Broome County agreed to never seek judicial office in the future, according to a statement on Monday by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
