Two former Sarah Lawrence College students are suing the university with claims that it failed to protect them from ex-convict Lawrence Ray, who in 2022 was convicted of sex trafficking, extortion and other charges, after he moved into a shared dorm on the college’s campus.

Lawrence Ray, who moved into his daughter's college dorm and charmed her schoolmates with stories about his wisdom, was convicted on charges that he exploited the close-knit group, using threats and violence to enrich himself with millions of dollars. Plaintiffs Daniel B. Levin and Santos Rosario are former Sarah Lawrence students accusing the college of negligence for allowing Ray to live in his daughter’s campus dorm and roam the school’s Bronxville campus.
