The year 2023 brought tremendous activity in the world of cryptocurrency enforcement, most notably the trial and conviction of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and the guilty plea of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao.

White-collar defense attorneys expressed skepticism that such high-profile criminal prosecutions will continue in 2024, but said they will keep a close eye on regulatory developments as the cryptocurrency industry continues to get attention from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
