New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said she wants to remove the Empire State from a short list of eight states in the country that presently lack laws to protect against unfair and abusive business practices. 

Hochul made the pledge during Tuesday’s unveiling of the first “plank” of her State of the State address that she is slated to give on Jan. 9 for a full outline of priorities for the 2024 legislative session.
