The court had granted plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment as to liability on its claim that defendants must reimburse plaintiff’s defense costs in several Florida medical malpractice actions which were ultimately dismissed.

After submission by plaintiff of its total Florida defense costs, amounting to $818,213.68, defendant assailed that calculation by asserting that said amount was excessive, and also assailed plaintiff’s legal bills for utilizing the ‘block billing’ method, which includes multiple tasks in a single time entry.
