The full New York State Senate confirmed Gov. Kathy Hochul’s nomination of longtime private-sector attorney John Delmonte to serve as an interim state Supreme Court justice in the state’s westernmost judicial district on Wednesday.

Speaking on the chamber’s floor, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Brad Hoylman-Sigal thanked Hochul “for nominating such a distinguished individual to serve on our judiciary,” and Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins, D-Yonkers, for prioritizing the confirmation vote, held just a day after the committee voted unanimously to approve the nomination.
