The passing rate for candidates who sat for the February administration of the New York bar examination continued on its upward trajectory this year, with 72% of the 418 candidates who graduated from Empire State schools passing on their first attempt, a 1% increase over last year.

The uptick comes after a relatively sharp 8% drop in the passage rate for New York graduates sitting for the February 2022 administration of the exam—the first administered fully in person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which time exams were taken remotely. There was a 69% passing rate for the group in that sitting.
