Momentum appeared to be fading on Wednesday for a bill that calls for New York State to adopt the federal rules of evidence that are more lax relative to admitting Molineux evidence in sex assault trials.

The measure was crafted largely in response to a controversial 4-3 decision by New York’s top court that threw out the rape conviction of film producer Harvey Weinstein.
