Atlanta-based tax boutique Welty PC has combined with New York-based Kostelanetz LLP to create a 40-lawyer “powerhouse national tax controversy practice” that includes former Big Law tax attorneys and IRS investigators.

The combination adds 10 lawyers—including former Am Law 100 firm leaders Todd Welty and Andy Steigleder as partners—to Kostelanetz’s 30-attorney firm that specializes in tax and white-collar defense and traces its beginnings to the late 1940s in New York, the firm said in an announcement this week.
