Yes, it is somewhat unkind to call them “talking heads.”

After all, most, if not all of them, are indeed “experts” in their fields as political or legal commentators. And knowing many of these legal commentators—mostly lawyers and retired judges—on the whole they do in fact know what they’re talking about. They may have differing views from one another (and, less importantly, from me too) regarding how the case or a particular witness was faring—recognizing that one never knows where a jury is leaning in real time. But competent lawyers typically have differing views, sometimes depending on where their careers and/or personal political views have taken them. Deciphering how a trial or witness is progressing is somewhat akin to horse racing!
