Daniel Abebe, vice provost for Academic Affairs and Governance at the University of Chicago Law School, has been named the next dean of Columbia Law School, becoming the law school’s first Black leader.
He will succeed Gillian Lester, who has been dean of Columbia Law since 2015 and announced in November that she would be stepping down at the end of this academic year.
