Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, in a big move to expand its private equity and M&A group, has added two high-profile partners from rival firms, including George Sampas from Sullivan & Cromwell and Brian Scrivani from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Scrivani will join as an M&A and private equity partner in New York, while Sampas will join as the co-chair of Gibson Dunn’s M&A practice and head of cross-border M&A, said Richard Birns, co-chair of Gibson Dunn’s private equity practice. The partners joined the firm’s offices on Monday, Birns added.
