New York Gov. Kathy Hochul removed the “acting” designation from the Court of Claims’ longtime statewide leader, returning him to the status of permanent presiding judge, after a decade-long hiatus.

On Monday, court leaders announced that Hochul appointed Judge Richard Sise presiding judge of the court with exclusive authority over civil lawsuits involving monetary claims against the Empire State and other state entities such as the New York State Thruway, the City University of New York and the New York State Power Authority.
