What are some of the department's most satisfying successes of the past year and why?

In the past year, the Firm upheld its commitment to fairness and achieved favorable results for its clients in numerous cases, most notably in actions against Alexion Pharmaceuticals ($125M settlement), a drug company that used illegal tactics to "pull in" sales of one of the world's most expensive drugs; Allstate ($90M settlement) over allegations it implemented an aggressive growth strategy and lowered its underwriting standards to grow its business; and Guess? ($30M plus governance reforms to prevent future abuses) in a case standing up for women by holding perpetrators of sexual misconduct accountable. At the appellate level the Firm achieved an important victory in a long-running securities fraud class action against several former officers and directors of California utility company PG&E arising from its involvement in the devasting Northern California wildfires; the appellate court vacated an order that had stayed proceedings in the action for over a year. Having once again broken records for lead counsel appointments, the Firm is most proud of its recent appointment to lead a securities class action against commercial airplane-maker Boeing, which seeks to hold the company accountable for prioritizing profits over safety, ultimately jeopardizing the welfare of travelers across the country.
