Q: What are some of the department’s most satisfying successes of the past year and why?
This year, one of our most satisfying successes was securing trial court and appellate victories that reinforce employers’ rights to the predictable and rigorous enforcement of arbitration agreements. When fully and robustly enforced, arbitration agreements provide a low-cost, efficient, and streamlined method of resolving workplace disputes, and these agreements are important to our clients. The victories that secured these rights were the culmination of a cross-practice, cross-office effort, and demonstrate the value of our strategic approach to securing our clients’ most important labor and employment objectives through the collaborative and seamless teamwork of our lawyers. Achieving a significant win for our client, and especially one that also helps other employers achieve their strategic objectives, is what makes the result all the more satisfying.
