“I’m totally burnt out” is a common sentiment among my lawyer clients. They’re often debating making a lateral move, or working through whether to leave law altogether. I also hear it a lot in initial consultations, where potential clients are simply feeling out whether to pursue therapy, curious what that might look like.

For a range of cultural reasons—some of which are unique to law, while others apply to our society writ large—many of us are averse to prioritizing our emotional and psychological health until its decline becomes impossible for us to ignore.
