Legal Ethics and Attorney Discipline
Broadly speaking, civics is the study of the rights and obligations that come with being a citizen in a society.
To the mind of this author, the civic duty of a lawyer goes beyond understanding the underpinnings of a democratic system of government and advocating for clients on a case-by-case basis.
Instead, I submit that the civic duty of a lawyer includes the need to engage in a dialogue—a civil dialogue—about what is happening in the world around us.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.
