Prominent New York legal figures who publicly supported King & Spalding partner Randy Mastro’s nomination for New York City corporation counsel expressed frustration this week at the news of his withdrawal from the process.

The New York City Council was scheduled to vote Thursday on Mastro’s nomination as New York City’s next top lawyer, but just days prior, Mastro told Mayor Eric Adams in a letter shared with the Law Journal that his appointment as corporation counsel “is not to be.”
