On Feb. 8, 2017, former New York Knicks forward Charles Oakley was forcibly removed from a New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden, prompting his lawsuit against James Dolan, the CEO of MSG Networks Inc., and other defendants.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit affirmed dismissal of Oakley's case, except for his assault and battery claims against the other defendants. But in 2023, Second Circuit vacated a 2021 summary judgment that went in MSG Networks' favor, prompting reconsideration of Oakley's motion to amend.
