Tonight, the Office of the Appellate Defender will host its 31th annual "First Monday in October" fundraiser gala and mock Supreme Court argument.

Helen Gredd of Lankler Siffert & Wohl and David Patton of Hecker Fink will present arguments in 'Kousisis v. United States,' which asks whether deception to induce a commercial transaction can constitute federal mail or wire fraud, even if the defendant does not intend to cause economic harm and the alleged victim receives the goods or services for which it paid. They will each receive OAD's prestigious Milton S. Gould Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy.
