A New York appellate court has ruled in a case of first impression that the state's anti-SLAPP statute applies to private litigation.
The Appellate Division, First Department affirmed a 2023 ruling from Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Robert Reed, which was the first of its kind to apply anti-SLAPP protections in an action where there were no issues of public interest.
