Albany County District Attorney David Soares, a 20-year incumbent who's become an outspoken dissenter from the Democratic Party line on public-safety reforms, is in the midst of a write-in campaign, after losing the June primary to prominent defense lawyer Lee Kindlon.
Soares said he's remaining in the running because the November election has implications beyond the county's three cities, including the state capital, nine towns and five villages.
