A Housing Court judge was presented with the question of whether 13 years old is a suitable age to be served with court papers in a landlord-tenant matter.
According to court papers, counsel for the landlord, acting as process server, served an eviction warrant at a subject premises on the afternoon of Jan. 12, 2024. A 13-year-old girl answered the door—neither of her parents nor any other adults were home.
