[Editor's note: This letter was submitted in response to the column "In Corruption Case Against Eric Adams, Prosecutors Are Attempting to Create a New Bribery Standard" by retired New York State Supreme Court Justice Alan Marrus, which the New York Law Journal published on Oct. 29.]

Retired state Supreme Court Justice Alan Marrus' perspective on experimentation towards the outer perimeter of prosecutorial authority is spot-on. He observes that the latest indictment and public rollout in the "case" against New York City Mayor Eric Adams signal yet another ultra vires excursion into redefining the crime of public bribery "expansively," athwart the United States Supreme Court repeatedly ruling that it must be interpreted and applied "narrowly." That is a bright line of demarcation!
