An appeals panel on Monday affirmed a federal jury’s $5 million verdict against President-elect Donald Trump in a defamation and sexual abuse lawsuit filed by former columnist E. Jean Carroll.

The ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upholds one of two verdicts against Trump related to Carroll’s claim that he abused her in 1996 in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan.
