A New York bill proposes to give the state's 62 district attorney offices direct access to police records and databases, to quicken the discovery process.

New York's 62 district attorney offices would have direct access to police records and databases to speed up the discovery process in resolving criminal cases, legislation proposed by two New York City Democratic lawmakers said on Monday.
The proposal, which acknowledges a need to lessen the workload of prosecutor offices, relative to their compliance with recent discovery reforms, drew praise from defense organizations and two New York City prosecutors.
