The rapper Drake filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group on Wednesday, alleging the record label put his life and reputation at risk by promoting a “diss track” by Kendrick Lamar that the company allegedly knew contained false accusations of pedophilia against the Toronto-based musician.

The action, filed by Wilkie, Farr & Gallagher, accuses UMG of launching a campaign to create a “viral hit” with Lamar’s song “Not Like Us.” Both Drake—whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham—and Lamar are represented by UMG.
