About a third of the New York Legislature—69 members—have signed onto a letter calling for Gov. Kathy Hochul to bolster the state District Attorney and Indigent Legal Services Attorney Loan Forgiveness program with an additional $4 million.

It's additional pressure on Hochul, after 37 New York district attorneys, public defender organizations and unions in December expressed concern about incoming President Donald Trump's pledge to curtail federal loan forgiveness programs.
