The New York court system’s recent launch of its Uncontested Joint Divorce program, a facilitation of jointly filed petitions from New Yorkers whose marriages are ending amicably, is a welcome development, several family law attorneys agreed on Friday.
But several of them underscored that parties should still seek legal counsel, even when they have already worked out primary issues such as child custody and division of assets and debts.
