The financial crisis of 2008, with its attendant headlines about jaw-dropping sums of money being owed to the departing heads of the fallen companies and boards abysmally failing in their oversight function in the search for excess profit, will almost certainly lead to a similar tsunami of shareholder proposals in the 2009 proxy season.
