According to several applications for compensation filed in Southern District Bankruptcy Court this week, five law firms have submitted bills totaling nearly $9 million in fees and expenses for their work on Chrysler’s ongoing Chapter 11 case. The bills, while not as hefty as those in General Motors’ bankruptcy, show that June’s billings were noticeably less than May’s, when lawyers and other restructuring advisers worked around the clock to meet a June 10 deadline to create a new Chrysler entity.
According to court filings, Jones Day requested nearly $5 million in fees and expenses for work done between June 1 and June 30. The amount was less than half of the $12.7 million Jones Day sought in May. Bankruptcy partners Corinne Ball, David Heiman and Jeffrey Ellman are serving as lead debtors’ counsel.
