Whistleblowers typically get 15 percent to 25 percent of the recovery in False Claims Act cases, which translates to at least $75 million in this case, where the U.S. Justice Department alleged the city and state had inappropriately sought Medicaid reimbursements for speech therapy, transportation and other services between 1990 and 2001.
