Let me begin this piece with a tidbit of historical nostalgia, to reflect on a time when most of my generation was probably very naïve when it came to comprehending the broad opportunities in the practice of law. Back in law school, during the last century (which in fact was not that long ago), there were three subjects which at that time had categorically no interest to me: trademarks, international law and comparative law.
Trademarks: who cared? I wanted to be a business lawyer, and in those days trademarks were not of primary interest to those wishing to be M&A experts.
