Danaher Corp. will purchase businesses from two medical-technology companies in a deal valued at $1.1 billion. In the two-part deal, Danaher will acquire a 50 percent stake in AB Sciex and a full ownership of Molecular Devices from MDS, a pharmaceutical research company. Danaher will buy the other 50 percent of AB Sciex from Life Technologies, a biotech firm.

Danaher, a Washington-D.C.-based manufacturing company, sells a wide range of medical, industrial and consumer products.
