The State of New York has recently enacted a number of laws that will be of interest to New York employers. This month’s column summarizes these recent legislative developments and highlights some of the steps that employers will need to take to be in compliance.

Wage-Hour Protections

On Aug. 26, 2009, Governor David Paterson signed into law a bill (NYS Assembly Bill A6963) which expands the remedies against employers for violations of the wage and hour provisions of the New York Labor Law (NYLL) and protects employees against retaliation for exercising their rights under the law.
