A non-union college professor’s seven-year crusade against agency fees for activities he regards as political has received a boost from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

David Seidemann, a tenured geology professor at Brooklyn College, argues that his First Amendment rights were violated when he was forced to pay fees to the Professional Staff Congress (PSC) of the City University of New York and its state and national affiliates, the New York State United Teachers and American Federation of Teachers, for “ideological” programs.
