The New York City Bar announced yesterday that Samuel W. Seymour, a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell, has been nominated as president of the group. If elected, he will succeed Patricia M. Hynes as the 64th president in the association’s 139-year history. The election will take place at the city bar’s annual meeting on May 18.

Mr. Seymour, 52, is a former federal prosecutor who concentrates on white-collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement matters and internal investigations. He has led high-profile investigations involving allegations of accounting fraud, securities fraud, foreign bribery, price-fixing, trade sanctions violations, money laundering and bank regulatory offenses. Mr. Seymour has been an active member of the city bar for more than 25 years, having served as both a member and chair of the executive committee, vice president of the group and chair of the board of the City Bar Justice Center.
