Christopher L. Sallay is a partner at Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz in New York City. Mr. Sallay has extensive experience in high profile personal injury cases in the areas of medical malpractice, automobile accidents, construction accidents, municipal liability and products liability. Mr. Sallay is responsible for all aspects of litigation, from the initial meeting of clients through the ultimate resolution of the case, and has tried cases in both New York and New Jersey. He is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey in addition to the federal courts in both states, and has practiced extensively in those courts. Mr. Sallay has exceptional skills in the taking of depositions and has traveled throughout the country deposing necessary parties and witnesses. His skills in questioning medical professionals and confronting them with verifiable medical facts and principles has led to the swift and favorable resolution of multiple malpractice claims. His background and training in computerized legal research has proven to be an invaluable aid in the preparation of motions and appellate briefs for submission to the Appellate Divisions and the Court of Appeals. Mr. Sallay works closely with Anthony Gair, and both share the fervent belief that hard work is the hallmark of a great attorney and is the only way to truly represent the interests of a client. It is this conviction and attention to detail that has led to the significant resolutions of cases that involved difficult or unique legal questions.
Mr. Sallay is a lecturer for the New York State Bar Association and has given lectures in the areas of automobile litigation, basic tort and insurance law practice, and labor law-construction accident claims. He has also lectured on Constitutional law challenges as they relate to automobile insurance legislation, as well as ethical considerations concerning automobile litigation. In addition to lecturing, he has authored course material for the New York State Bar Association, including course material on evaluating damages related to automobile accident claims and selecting the right experts. He graduated near the top of his class from Brooklyn Law School where he was a member of the prestigious Moot Court Honor Society-National Trial Advocacy Team. While in law school, his writing and advocacy skills were recognized with the Samuel Witte Prize for Literature and the Law and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Trial Advocacy. He continues to be a member of several professional organizations, including the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He also is an active member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and served as the secretary of the Tort Litigation Committee for several years.
