ALBANY – A sweeping new law that will require all drunken-driving offenders to blow into a breathalyzer ignition device before they can operate their cars will create additional responsibilities for courts sentencing those defendants, state officials and court administrators said.

“We do have implementation issues and it will require a commitment from the courts as well as from everyone else,” said Denise O’Donnell, Governor David A. Paterson’s deputy secretary for public safety.
