The Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, has existed as a well-respected judicial institution for well over 100 years. During that time, society has moved from the telegraph to the Internet and the court has seen the population of its jurisdiction multiply to the point where it includes more than half of our state’s citizens. The court has always tried to keep pace with these changes, and is constantly adapting to the evolving pressures presented by the volume of appeals that pass through its doors.

In the past eight years, we have made concerted efforts on several fronts in areas crucial to the operation of the court and the fulfillment of our mission to the public.
