Winston & Strawn has expanded its restructuring practice by hiring a three-lawyer team from Dewey & LeBoeuf. The Chicago-based firm said it has added partners Lawrence A. Larose, who acted as lead counsel for MBIA Insurance Corp. in its restructuring effort last year, and Samuel S. Kohn, who was counsel at Dewey. Sarah Trum, an associate, also made the move.
Mr. Larose’s practice has focused largely on restructurings involving out-of-court solutions or pre-packaged bankruptcy plans. His past clients also include Raymond James Financial Inc., and Foster Wheeler AG. Mr. Larose said he could not comment on whether they would follow him, though he said he expected to continue to do work for MBIA going forward. A spokesman for Dewey said the firm wished Mr. Larose’s team well.
