ALBANY – The state’s highest court will hear arguments during its February session on whether a woman, who is neither biologically nor legally tied to the child borne by her partner when they were together as a same-sex couple, is bound to pay child support for the youngster.
Judges on the Court of Appeals will also consider oral arguments this month in a session that began yesterday that could refine the application of the state’s hate crimes statute and affect access to the records of mentally ill people sent for treatment to nursing homes following their release from state institutions.
