A boxer who suffered career-ending injuries after he was knocked out in a match at Madison Square Garden by an opponent he claimed weighed substantially more than the rules allowed failed to prove that the New York State Athletic Commission acted negligently in allowing the fight to go forward, a Court of Claims judge has ruled.

Joey Gamache maintained that the commission turned a blind eye when Arturo Gatti weighed in at more than the 141-pound “contract” weight one day before the February 2000 match.
