ALBANY – Domestic violence victims concerned about their safety can now petition a court to prevent the release of their addresses on voter registration forms.

Under legislation signed by Governor David A. Paterson, A9368/S5945, victims can petition either a Supreme Court justice or a County Court judge, depending on where they live, to have their residences kept separately than other data on registration forms and withheld from people who request it, including perpetrators of abuse.
