The New York City Council and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg have agreed to add $8 million to the budgets of the five district attorneys and the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office, Peter F. Vallone Jr., chairman of the council’s Public Safety Committee, said last week. The addition brings the prosecutors’ budgets to a total of $260.2 million in the $63 billion city budget for the fiscal year starting Thursday.

The allocation of the added $8 million among the six offices has yet to be decided upon, Mr. Vallone said. He added that the council and mayor had agreed to increase funding over the course of the year another $18 million to insure that the offices have as much money in FY2011 as they did in FY2010. – Daniel Wise
