Purchase of a Midtown East apartment building has solved a housing dilemma for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. SKI Realty Inc., an affiliate of the hospital, has acquired a six-story, 41-unit elevatored low-rise at 311 East 54th St., from Parker Hart Limited. The purchase price of $10 million was equivalent to $250,000 per unit.
Built in 1963, the building, located between First and Second avenues, has a total of 24,192 square feet with a mix of studio and one-bedroom units, and two offices. The apartments will house approximately 40 hospital staff, including residents and post-doctoral students.
