A Brooklyn appellate panel has upheld the dismissal of a defamation action filed against Debbie Almontaser, the former principal of the city’s only Arabic-language public school.

The plaintiffs, the Stop the Madrassa Coalition and three of its members, who opposed the creation of the school, claimed that Ms. Almontaser defamed them when, after resigning from her post, she gave a press conference and accused the group of stalking her, verbally assaulting her and conducting a smear campaign against her.
