New York City has agreed to a $3.25 million settlement in the civil action filed by the estate of Sean Bell, an unarmed man who was shot and killed by police officers in a hail of 50 bullets as he left his bachelor party at a Queens club in 2006. The city also settled with two of Mr. Bell’s friends who were injured in the shooting: Joseph Guzman will receive $3 million and Trent Benefield will get $900,000.

“The City regrets the loss of life in this tragic case, and we share our deepest condolences with the Bell family,” said Corporation Counsel Michael A. Cardozo. “We hope that all parties can find some measure of closure by this settlement.”
