A Manhattan judge has given the green light to a pilot program that would allow commuter vans and for-hire vehicles to pick up groups of passengers along former New York City bus routes.
A union, whose members include laid-off bus drivers and mechanics, tried to enjoin the Taxi and Limousine Commission program, claiming it would discourage the Metropolitan Transit Authority from restoring bus routes and re-hiring drivers.
