Some 1,525 courtroom non-judicial employees had given notice by Friday that they intend to participate in a statewide early retirement program, according to an official from the Office of Court Administration.
The news of the departures comes less than three months after the Legislature passed a bill aimed at encouraging older state workers to retire in exchange for enhanced pension benefits. Clerks, officers and court reporters had until Aug. 13 to decide whether to participate in the program.
